Yoast alternative for WordPressLeave Yoast without retyping years of titles. Let your agent take it from there.

Worried you’ll lose your keywords? Your Yoast titles, descriptions, focus keywords and redirects come across in one batch, previewed first and undoable in one click. Your agent handles what’s missing, with your approval.

Try it: run the import, then undo the whole batch.

Years of Yoast titles shouldn’t be the reason you stay.

If you’ve run Yoast for a few years, the plugin is the easy part to replace. The titles, descriptions and focus keywords you typed into it, post by post, are the hard part.

Redoing that by hand across a few hundred posts is weeks of work. So people stay on a plugin they have outgrown.

That is the fear in most “should I leave Yoast” threads. One r/SEO reply put it plainly:

“Changing Yoast can remove keywords and other things and you have to do it again. So keep using Yoast.”

An owner who did switch, to another plugin, wrote:

“some pages/blogs lost the keywords settings.”

“I don’t think that fear should be the reason anyone stays on an SEO plugin. So the importer reads what Yoast saved, shows you what will come across, and imports it as one batch. Yoast’s data stays where it was. If a page looks wrong afterwards, undo the batch and you are back where you started.”

Keep your Yoast work: what the Yoast SEO import brings across.

The Yoast SEO import reads the data Yoast left on your site and writes it into AgentedSEO as one batch. This is the list as built on 30 October 2026.

Per pageComes across

  • SEO title and meta description
  • Focus keyword
  • Canonical URL and robots settings
  • Social settings
  • Primary category
  • Redirects

Site-wideComes across

  • Title and description templates, and the title separator
  • Sitemap on or off
  • Social defaults and site identity
  • Indexing rules for post types and taxonomies, and the attachment-page redirect
  • Verification codes
  • Breadcrumb settings, and the breadcrumb title you set per post

Not importedStays behind

  • Yoast’s SEO and readability scores
  • Cornerstone flags
  • noimageindex and a few other rare robots tags
  • Schema set on single posts. AgentedSEO’s schema defaults for each post type cover those pages
  • Settings with no match in AgentedSEO are listed as notes, so you know what to check by hand
Redirect files: upload the redirect CSV that Yoast SEO Premium exports, as it is. Up to 1 MB and 5,000 rows a file, and the upload undoes like any other batch.
FAQ blocks: AgentedSEO’s FAQ schema reads the Yoast FAQ blocks already in your posts, so the questions you wrote keep their FAQ schema.

Every change is logged with who made it, when and how, and can be undone. Batch undo for imports and bulk jobs.

See what comes across from Yoast before anything is written.

You open the importer and AgentedSEO finds the Yoast data on your site. Before it writes a single field, a dry run shows how many values each field would get, where a page already has a value of its own, and what it will skip. You decide, then you import.

  • The setup wizard offers the Yoast import on first run, and the importer stays under Tools if you want to run it later.
  • The preview is a dry run: how many values each field would get (titles, descriptions, focus keywords, canonicals, robots, social, redirects), plus the conflicts and the skips.
  • Where a page already has an AgentedSEO value, you choose: keep it, or let the Yoast value overwrite it.
  • The importer only reads Yoast’s data. Nothing in Yoast’s own tables or settings is changed or deleted.
  • Got an agent connected? It can find the Yoast data and run the same import as a preview first, so you see what will move before you say yes.

Undo the whole Yoast import in one click, even next week.

The import is one batch in the change log. If anything looks wrong, a day or a week later, you undo the batch and the values go back. Changes you made by hand after the import stay as you wrote them.

  • One batch, marked as an import, with the time next to it. Undo it in one click, or undo single fields.
  • Undo leaves alone any value you edited after the import, and puts back everything else.
  • Undid it by mistake? Redo works from the same change log.
  • AgentedSEO offers to deactivate Yoast once the import is done. Nothing is deleted, so going back to Yoast means reactivating it.
  • FatLab’s advice for any SEO plugin switch is to keep the old plugin installed but deactivated until you have checked the new one. I built the switch to follow it by default.

Every change is logged with who made it, when and how, and can be undone. Batch undo for imports and bulk jobs.

Compared with Yoast SEO MCP: agent changes you can undo days later.

Yoast SEO and AgentedSEO both let an AI agent work on your SEO over MCP. They differ in what the agent can write, how it gets in, and how you take a change back. Here is each side, from Yoast’s own post.

The SEO Agent role cannot touch users, plugins, themes, or header and footer code. Robots.txt edits, noindex and deletions always ask first.

Your agent writes the missing titles and descriptions. You approve them in batches.

After the import, the posts that never had a meta description are still missing one. Ask your agent to write them. Each one lands as a preview with the old value next to the new one, and nothing goes live until you approve it.

Joy’s own test, 10 WordPress sites over 90 days, with an agent doing the SEO and publishing: published pages went from 3 to 12 a month, and his time from 6 hours a month to 1.5.

How the backlog clears

  • One request covers the lot: the agent works through your posts and sends back up to 100 changes per bulk write.
  • Proposals from one agent request are grouped, so you approve or reject them together, or one by one.
  • Approve all or Reject all, up to 100 at once. A rejection can carry a reason, and the agent gets it back.
  • Prefer to do some by hand? The bulk titles and descriptions screen edits them in one table, and those changes are logged and undoable too.

Write meta with the AI agent you already pay for. No credits to buy.

AgentedSEO sells no AI credits and has no AI writer to upgrade to. The agent you already use for everything else writes the titles and descriptions, and AgentedSEO checks, previews and logs what it writes. One AI bill, not two.

  • Tested with Claude, Codex, Cursor and Hermes, through the MCP server built into the plugin.
  • Optional AI helpers in the dashboard ship switched off. Turn them on and they run on your own key: OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenRouter or any OpenAI-compatible server, local ones included.
  • The helpers have site-wide limits, 100 a day and 10 a minute by default, so a busy editor can’t run up a bill.
  • For context: Yoast SEO Premium includes AI drafts of titles and descriptions, page by page or in bulk, with review before anything saves (yoast.com, read 30 October 2026). AgentedSEO takes the other route: your own agent does the writing.

Cover 25 client sites with one licence instead of 25 subscriptions.

Yoast SEO Premium is sold per site. AgentedSEO’s Studio licence covers 25 sites with one payment during the launch window, and Agency covers unlimited sites. The cost stops climbing with every client you add.

Yoast SEO Premium$118.80a year, per site, ex VAT (yoast.com, read 30 October 2026)
AgentedSEO Studio$129once, for 25 sites, until 1 December 2026
  • Yoast SEO Premium: $118.80 a year, ex VAT. One subscription covers one site or domain, with a discount for buying several.
  • AgentedSEO Studio: 25 sites, $129 once. Agency: unlimited sites, $199 once. Solo: 1 site, $49 once.
  • Early Adopter Lifetime runs from 1 November to 1 December 2026, 23:59 PT, then closes at checkout.
  • An expired or inactive licence never breaks a site: your SEO output, data and undo keep working.

No agent yet? Sitemaps, schema, breadcrumbs and redirects work without one.

As a Yoast SEO plugin alternative, AgentedSEO does the plugin side on its own. Run the setup wizard, check the site, and the front end keeps the SEO jobs it had. Your agent sees the same settings whenever you bring one in.

  • XML sitemaps, with video and news sitemaps and every WPML or Polylang language.
  • Schema for 22 types, checked before it saves, printed as one graph per page.
  • Breadcrumbs through a block, a shortcode or the agentedseo_breadcrumbs() template tag.

  • Verification codes for search engines, and no JavaScript added to your front end.

Switch from Yoast in one sitting, in four steps.

  1. 01

    Install AgentedSEO next to Yoast.

While both are active, AgentedSEO prints nothing in the page head and shows a notice instead, so search engines never see two sets of tags.

  2. 02

Preview the Yoast import, then run it.

The dry run shows how many values each field would get, the conflicts and the skips. Choose keep or overwrite where a page already has a value, and import it as one batch.

  3. 03

Check your key pages, then switch Yoast off.

Open the pages that matter most and run the site check. Deactivate Yoast when AgentedSEO offers, and undo the batch if anything looks wrong.

  4. 04

Give your agent its first job, if you use one.

Paste one URL into Claude, Codex, Cursor or Hermes and ask for the missing meta descriptions. They land as previews for you to approve.

When a Yoast alternative isn’t worth it

I’d rather you stay on Yoast than switch for nothing.

Stay on Yoast if…

It is set up, you are happy with it, and you don’t plan to let an agent near the site. Switching SEO plugins won’t lift your rankings on its own. FatLab, a WordPress agency, says it has managed hundreds of sites over 15 years and has “never seen a plugin switch improve search rankings” (fatlabwebsupport.com, read 30 October 2026).

Stay too if you rely on what Yoast SEO Premium bundles and AgentedSEO does not have: the Google Docs add-on, Yoast SEO Academy, 24/7 support, and internal link suggestions while you write.

Switch for the way you work

An agent writing your meta with a preview, an undo that still works next week, one licence across client sites.

If that is you, try it on staging first and keep Yoast installed but switched off until you have checked the result.

Questions people ask before they leave Yoast.

Nobody can promise rankings, and I won’t. What the import does is keep each page saying the same things to search engines: your titles, descriptions, focus keywords, canonicals, robots settings and redirects come across. The dry run shows how many values each field would get before anything is written, and afterwards the site check flags anything missing in plain language.

Yoast’s SEO and readability scores, cornerstone flags, noimageindex and a few other rare robots tags, and schema set on single posts, because AgentedSEO’s schema defaults for each post type cover those pages. Any setting with no match in AgentedSEO is listed as a note, so you know what to check by hand.

Yes. The import never changes Yoast’s data, so going back means reactivating Yoast. You can also undo the whole import from the change log in one click, and any edits you made since stay as you wrote them.

Redirects are on the importer’s list. You can also upload the redirect CSV that Yoast SEO Premium exports, up to 1 MB and 5,000 rows a file, and undo that upload like any other batch. After the switch, changing a published post’s slug adds the 301 for you.

Yes. Since 29 September 2026, Yoast SEO Abilities let AI tools read a post’s SEO fields and write canonical, robots flags, cornerstone and schema type, once you connect the WordPress MCP Adapter and your own LLM subscription. AgentedSEO has its MCP server built in, also writes titles, descriptions and posts, and keeps every change in a change log you can undo from after the chat is closed. yoast.com

For the plugin side, yes: titles and descriptions, templates, sitemaps, schema, breadcrumbs, redirects, verification codes and a site check. It does not have Yoast’s Google Docs add-on, Academy or 24/7 support, and internal link suggestions are not in 1.0. Support is by email at [email protected].

No. Import from Yoast and run AgentedSEO from the dashboard like any SEO plugin. An agent is how you stop doing the repetitive parts by hand, whenever you want one.

I haven’t published a speed comparison, so I won’t claim one. What we can say: AgentedSEO adds no JavaScript to your front end, prints the head in one pass, runs heavy work in the background, and lets you switch off the modules you don’t use.

No. AgentedSEO is a WordPress plugin, like Yoast SEO, which also sells a separate Shopify app. This page is for WordPress sites.
