Letting Claude or another AI agent change your SEO in one prompt? AgentedSEO, a Rank Math alternative built for agent work, imports your Rank Math titles, redirects and settings, then shows each agent change as a before and after, waits for your approval where you ask, and undoes any of it from the change log.

One prompt can change a site’s SEO. You should see it first.

Rank Math’s own docs show how much one prompt can do. Its MCP tool for fixing failed audit tests, rank-math/fix-site-seo, can set the permalink structure to /%postname%/, add default Disallow rules to robots.txt, and set the post title as the focus keyword on every post that doesn’t have one (rankmath.com/kb/mcp-tools, read 30 October 2026).

Preview, approval, undo: not described on the pages read.

Those are useful fixes. The pages I read describe what each fix does. They don’t describe a preview of the change, an approval step, or a way to undo it later. Rank Math’s own blog post on its MCP tools says it plainly: “This doesn’t replace SEO strategy or human review.” (rankmath.com/blog/rank-math-mcp, read 30 October 2026)

On your own blog, that review is a quick look. On a client site, a permalink change touches every URL, and a robots.txt rule decides what search engines may crawl. So agency developers build the review themselves.

“we snapshot before the agent runs and diff the changes after.”

“Never allow AI to directly write a production system without user approval.”

I’d want that review on any site I’m responsible for, so AgentedSEO builds the snapshot and the diff into the plugin.

Your agent’s change shows up as a before and after. Robots.txt edits and noindex wait for your approval whatever you set. And the change log can put any change back next week, long after the chat is closed.

Built after my agent took 10 sites from 3 to 12 pages a month.

I tested an agent SEO workflow on 10 WordPress sites over 90 days. Published pages went from 3 to 12 a month, and the time I spent went from 6 hours a month to 1.5.

Two things still bothered me. Schema needed another plugin, and I couldn’t see at a glance what the agent had changed.

Then I asked the Classic Monks community how SEO should ship. 34 people voted, and 64% said make it a separate plugin. AgentedSEO is that plugin, with the preview and the undo I wanted on my own sites.

Run the Rank Math import and bring your titles, redirects and settings across.

The importer reads what Rank Math stored, runs a dry run that shows how many values each field would get, and writes it as one batch. Rank Math’s own data stays where it was, so going back means reactivating it. I didn’t want a cutover to restart the SEO work you already did in Rank Math.

  • Social defaults and site identity
  • Indexing rules and the attachment-page redirect
  • Verification codes and robots.txt
  • Breadcrumb settings

  • SEO scores
  • Pillar content flags
  • noimageindex and a few other rare robots tags
  • Schema set on single posts (your post type defaults cover it)
  • The strip category base setting
  • Settings with no match are listed as notes
Redirects: upload Rank Math’s redirect CSV export as it is, up to 1 MB and 5,000 rows a file, and undo the upload like any other batch.
FAQ blocks you built with Rank Math are read by AgentedSEO’s FAQ schema, so the questions you wrote keep their schema.
If a page already has an AgentedSEO value, you choose keep or overwrite. Undo leaves alone anything you edited after the import, and AgentedSEO offers to deactivate Rank Math when you’re done.
Keep your category URLs: turn on Advanced › Strip category base before you switch, or category URLs go back to /category/.

Every change is logged with who made it, when and how, and can be undone, with batch undo for imports.

Rank Math MCP next to AgentedSEO: what you see before and after.

Both plugins let an AI agent such as Claude work on your site’s SEO, so connecting an agent isn’t the difference. I compared them on what you see before a change lands, who approves it, and how you put it back, because that’s where I’d lose sleep on a client site. Every Rank Math entry below comes from Rank Math’s own pages, read 30 October 2026, and says only what those pages say.

Sources: rankmath.com/kb/mcp-tools and rankmath.com/blog/rank-math-mcp, read 30 October 2026. If Rank Math adds a preview or undo, I’ll update this table.

Every change logged and undoable. The SEO Agent role can’t touch users, plugins, themes or header and footer code, and robots.txt edits, noindex, trash and deletes always ask first.

Once you’ve switched, you stay in control of the agent.

Approval rules, an undo that outlives the chat, a login that isn’t yours, and content work that goes through the same checks.

Choose what waits for your approval. The risky changes always do.

This is the part I care about most. You decide, area by area, what the agent may change alone and what waits for you. Low-risk jobs go through at the agent’s speed. The changes that can hurt a site never go live without you, whatever you set.

  • Approval rules per area: meta, schema, redirects, new drafts, edits to live posts and publishing.
  • Always ask first, whatever you set: robots.txt edits, noindex, trash and deletes, and hiding a whole post type, taxonomy or the author archive from search.
  • Each waiting change shows the before and after and the checks it passed, in Approvals and in the post editor.
  • Approve or reject a whole agent call at once, or up to 100 waiting changes in one go.
  • Reject with a reason and the reason goes back to the agent. The change log shows who approved each change.

The SEO Agent role can’t touch users, plugins, themes, header and footer code. Robots.txt edits, noindex, trash and deletes always ask first.

Undo any agent change next week, long after the chat is closed.

I wanted the record of what my agent did to live in WordPress, not in a chat window I might close. Open the change log days later and put one change, or a whole batch, back in one click. A bad agent run costs you a click, not a backup restore.

  • Every change is logged: who made it (you or the agent), when, and which way it came in (the dashboard, MCP, REST or WP-CLI).
  • Undo one field or a whole batch in one click, and redo it if you change your mind.
  • Rewritten posts come back from their WordPress revision, exactly as they were.
  • The Rank Math import is a batch too, so it undoes the same way.
  • Export the log as CSV for a client report, and set how long it is kept.

Every change is logged with who made it (person or agent), when, and how it came in, and can be undone; batch undo for imports and bulk jobs.

Get AgentedSEO

Give your agent its own limited login, never your admin password.

Developers already tell each other to “create a dedicated WP user for Claude”. AgentedSEO does it for you. Connecting an agent creates a separate WordPress user with a limited SEO Agent role, so you can say yes to an agent on a client site without handing over the keys.

  • The agent can edit titles, descriptions, keywords, schema, sitemaps, redirects and alt text, and write drafts and posts.
  • It can’t touch users or roles, install plugins, change themes, or edit header and footer code.
  • Agent users can’t sign in over XML-RPC, and an address is locked out after ten failed sign-ins.
  • Revoke the agent in one click. The content it created passes to you.

The SEO Agent role can’t touch users, plugins, themes, header and footer code.

Your agent writes the post too, not only the settings.

Ask for a post and the agent drafts it in WordPress, with the SEO fields filled in. It can also edit the posts you already have. Content and SEO go through the same preview, approval and undo.

  • New posts land as drafts with the title, content, categories, featured image and SEO fields set in one go.
  • It can edit existing posts or single blocks, schedule posts and upload media.
  • Publishing and edits to live posts wait for your approval by default. Moving a post to the trash always asks first.
  • If you have the post open, the agent’s edit waits instead of overwriting you.
  • It only works on the post types you allow, and page builder layouts stay off-limits to agents.

No agent yet? 404s, title templates and alt text, handled from the dashboard.

A r/Wordpress thread titled “Best alternative to RankMath” asked for a lighter plugin “which also comes with 404 monitoring and programattic title/description/ALT tag addition on images”. I made sure all of that works from the dashboard, and none of it needs an agent.

Works with no agent connected

  • 404 monitor: logs the broken URLs visitors hit, with a “New this week” count and how many are linked from your own pages.
  • Title and description templates per post type, with variables and a live preview.
  • Image SEO on upload, and empty alt text inside your content filled in when a page is shown.
  • XML sitemaps (plus video and news sitemaps), redirects with an automatic 301 when a slug changes, and schema checked for 22 types before it saves.
  • No JavaScript added to your front end, and one head output pass.

From Rank Math to your agent’s first approved change in four steps.

  1. 01

    Run the Rank Math import.

The dry run shows how many values each field would get, the conflicts and the skips. Choose keep or overwrite, and import everything as one batch.

  2. 02

Check your pages, then switch Rank Math off.

If Rank Math stripped the category base, turn on Advanced › Strip category base first, or category URLs go back to /category/. AgentedSEO offers to deactivate Rank Math for you. If anything looks wrong, undo the import in one click.

  3. 03

    Connect your agent.

Paste one URL into Claude, Codex, Cursor or Hermes, and choose which areas it may change alone.

  4. 04

    Approve its first job.

The change waits in Approvals with the before and after. Approve it, or reject it with a reason.

Choosing a Rank Math alternative

My honest answer: I’d pick on why you’re leaving. If you only want a lighter Rank Math SEO alternative, the r/Wordpress thread “Best alternative to RankMath” names The SEO Framework, SEOPress and Slim SEO. If you want an agent doing the SEO with a preview before each change and an undo after it, that’s what AgentedSEO is for. It also covers the plugin side from the dashboard, so you don’t need an agent to use it.

Titles, descriptions, focus keywords, canonicals, robots, social settings and redirects come over page by page, plus Rank Math’s templates, sitemap and breadcrumb settings, robots.txt and verification codes. Before anything is written, the dry run shows how many values each field would get, the conflicts and the skips.

Rank Math’s SEO scores, pillar content flags, noimageindex and a few other rare robots tags, and schema set on single posts, because AgentedSEO’s schema defaults for each post type cover those pages. The strip category base setting doesn’t come across either (see the next question). Any setting with no match in AgentedSEO is listed as a note, so you know what to check by hand.

Category URLs will, unless you change one setting. Rank Math’s strip category base setting is not imported, so after switching, category URLs go back to /category/. To keep the old URLs, turn on Advanced › Strip category base in AgentedSEO.

Yes. When I read its docs on 30 October 2026, Rank Math’s MCP tools connected Claude Desktop, ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot, with 27 tools for audits, settings and fixes. AgentedSEO has MCP built in too. The difference is what happens after the agent connects: a preview of each change, an approval step you control, and undo from the change log. rankmath.com/blog/rank-math-mcp

Yes. While another SEO plugin is active, AgentedSEO prints nothing in the page head, so search engines never see two sets of tags. When you’re ready, it offers to deactivate Rank Math for you. Nothing is deleted from it.

It stays in Rank Math and is not imported. Search Console stats in AgentedSEO are coming soon, and lifetime buyers get them when they ship. I won’t put a date on it until I can switch it on for every site.

Rank Math has a free plugin and paid plans billed yearly. On 30 October 2026, during a sale, its pricing page listed PRO at €7.99 a month billed annually (ex VAT), renewing at €8.99, for unlimited personal sites with client sites excluded, and Business at €24.99 a month for 100 client sites, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. AgentedSEO Early Adopter Lifetime is one payment: $49 for 1 site, $129 for 25 sites, $199 for unlimited sites, until 1 December 2026, 23:59 PT. There are no AI credits to buy: the optional AI helpers are off by default and run on your own key. rankmath.com/pricing

I haven’t measured either and won’t guess. Both cover the core SEO jobs, and no plugin ranks a site by itself, so pick on how you work. AgentedSEO adds no JavaScript to your front end, runs heavy work in the background, and lets you switch off any module you don’t use. Leaving Yoast instead? Read the Yoast alternative page

I’d rather put the terms in writing. Early Adopter Lifetime includes every future update, for one payment. On a yearly licence, if you stop renewing, your SEO output, data and undo keep working. Only updates and support stop.

Early Adopter Lifetime · until 1 December

Let your agent do the SEO. You still see, approve and undo.

Studio 25 sites $129 Early Adopter Lifetime, one payment Get Studio

Every licence includes the full plugin, the Rank Math importer, the agent connection, every future update and support.

From 2 December: Solo $49 a year, Studio $99 a year, Agency $149 a year or $499 lifetime.
